GMUUC is Small but Mighty
Our New Church Home
GMUUC broke ground on our new property on July 11th, 2021.
The Design
In January, 2020, GMUUC contracted with David Zenner to design our new building. He was charged with designing to our site and including as many required and “wish list” features as possible within a 5000 – 7000 sq. ft. floor plan. He presented a conceptual design to 44 members and friends on January 25th. The design was enthusiastically received and refined based upon member feedback. It is important to note that this is an aspirational plan, and may be further modified to meet requested design changes, engineering requirements, or fundraising results.
The Design Team of GMUUC has been working with an architect for a year to incorporate a design that would meet our congregation’s needs and fill our desires.
Consideration included:
-
Surveys from every church committee and staff regarding needs and desires
-
Conversations with numerous church members
-
Hours on Google looking for the most favorable equipment and materials
-
Consultants from our congregation including builders, furniture makers, wood workers, designers, artists, economist, business, security, sound designers and others
-
Consultants outside our congregation including sound designer, professional designers and builders, Civil engineer, and architect
We are very excited about the current Capital Campaign that will raise the funds for this long awaited for project. The plan is to move forward with construction in 2021.
